About the Friends
The Friends of Gedling Country Park was formed in late 2014 to help develop and maintain the new country park, situated on the site of the old Gedling Colliery. Our aim is to enhance its habitats, flora and fauna and to serve as an active means of communication and co-operation between all users.
We're working on ideas and plans for ensuring that the flora, fauna and general environment are recorded and developed in ways that enhance them. We also work closely with Gedling Borough Council who operates and manages the park, and our aim is to ensure that volunteers are actively involved in all aspects of the park's use. We were initially formed as an unincorporated association (effectively a small community group) and then in May 2016 we successful applied to become a registered charity with the UK Charity Commission. This enables us to seek larger grants and donations and benefit from gift aid tax rebates. If you're interested in the park, we're always looking for new members to join us or for you to volunteer to help with our activities. Please go to our Donate or Join page for more information. Also everyone is welcome to contact us with ideas and suggestions for the park and potential activities. |
